Hello! I just started the program with this being my first day attemting the exercises. I got hard when doing the jelq and jelq & hold. I thought I read the jelg should never be done while hard. Is this normal? Any way to prevent or lessen the erection? Thanks.

Well, I will simply say that when you are first beginning the exercises, you have probably never did anything like these before.
These new stimulations will cause almost everybody to become erect, or even overly erect. Usually, jelqs and its variations are performed not completely erect. If you do become totally erect, there are two simple ways to get the erection to decrease to a usable manner.
One way is to flex your PC muscle hard for a few seconds or for a few repetitions, this will have the effect of decreasing your erection due to a more fatigued muscle.
The other useful method is to just simply take a break for a few seconds and let your erection just naturally go down. Then continue on with your exercises!

I do my jelqs on my girth days at almost 90-95% erect because I feel it works the blood in the penis more. However I have been PEing for quite some time and this should not be done unless you are experienced due to rather serious injuries that can occur if jelqing at to high of an erection.
Take is slow, easy, and most of all be safe about it, you only get 1 penis...

Jelquing can be done with a high erection, however, it is unadvisable to do this with a 100% erection. I personally don't do them (100%) and wouldn't recommend this technique, either. Just like buyer beware, user beware!
I think that performing jelqs with a 100% erection is akin to performing a shock routine, in order to get out of a plateau and kickstart new gains.
In my personal opinion, the negatives outweigh the positives on this one.
This is not to say that what ChuckDogg is doing is wrong. Like he says, he has been PEing for quite a while now, and he has enough experience and he also pays attention to how his penis reacts to the exercises.
I'm sure you have heard this before, but PE is about finding out what works for a person.

As people have said it is very common that you get erections when doing the exercises - AT FIRST. You start to learn to control your penis more and as time goes on you will be able to do the exercises with no trouble at all. I have always found that by doing a few PC exercises when I am hard I will slowly return to the right state and of course doing PC exercises is good!
