I realise why the program was taken away, because a lot of people would come here and spam. The thing that sucks about it is that the people who have been here posting helpful and insightful advise get screwed out of the program. I don't think that the good posters should have to pay for some flash in the pan bad posters.
Maybe there could be a new way of doing it, but with post counts as well as time. And possibly having a mod do a quick review of the member's post to check overall quality before free merch. is given.
I really wanted to try out those patches and it's a shame that the program stopped before I had a chance.

I understand your concerns Crunchy and it is a shame that we are no longer able to offer this. Whilst it would be possible for moderators to assess each individual who qualified this would become very time consuming.
Of course there are still free products available for people who submit testimonials so they are still there for the people who want them :)

That's not really free though, you are paying for them with testimonials. I just wanted the free offer to try them out without spending a bunch of money.

True you have to buy a product to be able to do testimonials, but if you are using PH you can submit good testimonials on that and get free PSP, VP or even a Size Genetics device. I personally think our free products for testimonials is extremely generous, there arent many sites that will even offer free products for testimonials let alone something as valuable as an SG device.
The problem with the products for posting as you recognise was the increase in spam and posts just agreeing with someone else with one word or even just a smiley. It just didnt work and even if you analyse each individuals posts it can cause disagreements as to whether the person had contributed enough to be rewarded.
I completely understand your disappointment but I cannot see us changing the policy in the near future, however that doesnt mean there wont be other opportunities for people to get free products :)

Hmmmmmm how about something a bit more silent? Think about this, every week or couple of weeks the moderators pick a a quality post or poster (mvp(oster)) and that person through PM is offered a choice of one of the offers (pills or patches for free w/the $20 shipping or whatever it was). The post/poster may or may not be revealed depending on your choice. If people want a SG deal maybe you could have poster of the month (having a certain number of posts to qualify) the mods Im sure just from browsing daily get a feel for who has made the best posts over the month.
This way it would eliminate the spam because it just flatout wouldn't help those people, the selection could be discreet so not a lot of attention is drawn to it. Plus even if it is well known it just motivates the posters here to make more quality posts.

I like the idea Crunchy, although I think because of the value of the products and to avoid people just posting intensely for a week to get a freebie it would be more likely to be a product a month with a 6 month or annual award of an SG device for the best contributor.
I cant make any promises as to whether or not this will be done but I will certainly put your idea forward to the powers that be :)
