Hi,

i am a new user and i would like to ask you ,what would seem like, the most fundamental question in PE : How do u actually measure your penis?

In the penis-health website, the correct way to measure the penis is illustrated as holding a ruler from the side and pressing slightly in your bone. When i am doing this, my erect length is 7 inches. However, one of the girls i recently had sex told me that my penis is far shorter than that. She actually told me that the correct way to measure a penis is from top. And when i do this, it barely is 5.8 inches long.

Now, i am overweight and i do have quite a lot of fat accumulated in my penis area....i know this makes a difference, but please could somebody tell me the answer here, because in the end of the day, if i don't know how long i am how i am supposed to know if i have gained anything?

Hi Jo, yeah they say to measure it on the side. I measure on the top, as you girl told you. As you, I have some body fat around my penis so my effective lenght is shorter than my BPEL (bone pressed erect lenght). I think it doesn't matter how you measure it. The important thing is to keep the same measuring way to see what gains you make. I am losing serious weight since 3 months and my penis is looking bigger (combined with PE).

Good luck in PE Jo!!

One word: CONSISTENCY

A lot of people say measure from the top, a lot say from the side, and you'll hear a lot of different things about how to press and how much. The thing for measuring gains is consistency. It really doesn't matter how you measure, as long as you do it the same each and every time.

Personally, I measure from the side, and press as far into my (unfortunately) substantial fat as I can. I press as far as I can each time because then I know I'll never get any more length by pressing any further, and any additional length is from actual gains.

I'll second that. But, almost all of the surveys done on penis length and girth, the ones where we get our standard measurements from, are done the same way. Penis at a 90 degree angle to the body, measured on top and bone-pressed. Girth is measured with the measuring tape around the thickest part of the penis. So if you measure to the side you'll inflate your ego compared to the sex surveys that have been done. But if you started measuring that way you'll need to continue in order to keep track of your progress. Just don't read too much into the actual figures but rather how they change.

:( Ebon, my ego is appropriately deflated!

Seriously though, I know you're right about comparing to surveys and how they're done, but for purposes of PE gains consistency is the most important.

I don't even know how much I've actually gained since at the beginning I would never press against the bone because I thought it was "cheating". Of course, being disappointed with the measurement I would cheat just a little, but I really don't know how much I've gained since starting because it wasn't consistent then.

Try constructing the measurement tube in my Tips,Tricks, And Supplements thread. It will help with your measuring dilema.;)
