I just joined tonite and did my first exercise:

warm up
stretch: 3 min.
Jelq: 3 min.
Kegels: 50
warm down

length: 5 to bone
6 at side

width: 4.5

I am also trying to lose weight; I am 208 and I need to be at 185.
I am married; age 45, my wife is 35; married 17 years
Trying to stay young!
I have some weight-related hypertension; on meds for it.
Hoping to get off meds via weight reduction.
anyway, I thought I would try this; it would be cool to expand for my wife and get bigger.

Any comments on the above exercises?

Just add time/reps to your exercises slowly over the next 3 weeks until you're up to about 10 min of stretching and 12-15 min of jelqing. Also a question on the measuring: were the erect measurements taken before or after your PE session? Also, width at 4.5"? Is that supposed to be girth? 4.5" in actual width is monstrous.

Hey Veegee, you're in the right place if you want to increase this part of your life. Some guys made great gains! I made some, but I'm not done yet. As for you, I have to lose weight (I'm 237 and I need to get at 200 to be 15%fat). You will notice that you penis will actually seem to be bigger when you lose weight because of the fat around the base of your penis.

As ebon said, you should slowly increase the time of your program. I've read everywhere tough that intensity is better than time. So work very hard (not to hard!) and your gains will come!

I measured the length before I started, it was 6 inches if I pressed the straight ruler in all the way in to touch the pubic bonebase of my body. I guess there is a good inch of fat there.
Measured from the actual base of it, however, on the outside without pressing in at all; just where the shaft meets the base, it was 5 inches. I had a straight ruler.
As far as the circumference, I didn't have a tape measure, so I used a string and then measured it. Maybe I did it wrong. 4.5 does seem big and I don't think I am thick; I always thought it was average/thin. In fact, I use the small rubbers made in japan because the big/average size American ones are too loose. I buy the thinnest/smallest rubbers they make; 'Beyond 7' brand.
Anyway, I will measure the girth/circumfrence (thickness) again tonite and try and find a tape measure.

No, 4.5" circumference is fairly normal. Had you been 4.5" wide, like you said in your first post, that would have been huge. Circumference (girth) is not the same as width. I suspected you meant circumference but had to make sure.

here is a question, and then I think I know what to do for the next three weeks.

Q. How often should I do my exercises?
If I do exercises the night before sex will that affect recovery time and progress?
Should I take the day off from exercise before having sex or doesn't it matter. Does being 45 mean I need longer recovery than I did at 30? Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated, especially in regard to a workout schedule for the next three weeks.

As a beginner you should only do your exercises once a day and on a 3-on-1-off schedule. If you feel sore the day after a session you may want to consider having more days off but try this first. I honestly have no idea how age affects the recovery process for penile exercise. More often than not, older men can take more workload but less intenisity when it comes to physical exercise as a whole. There might be a similar thing with PE.

If you rest overnight (which should mean 5-8 hours of rest) there should be no effect on your sexual powers. Make sure to do your PC exercises (kegels) and you should be fine.
