Traction confusion

most people can't even get the traction to work... however there are some conflicting posts on here with some saying do not change traction for 4 weeks, some say 6 weeks, and the sticky thread in here has a picture of a table which says first 3 weeks use traction of 900g and by 4th week use 1200g.... there is just no consistency in the information provided here..
