Is the A-stretch primarily for length or girth? I know it works both, but should I replace a stretching exercise (length) or a jelqing exercise (girth) to fit it into my already long 40 minute workout?

The A-stretch is a length exercise so you should do it instead of another stretch.
I personally think that the grip is not that easy, so I posted the “Easy A-grip” on this forum. I you have he time, take a look at it. You can intensify it by flexing your PC while stretching.

Considering the wording of your question you should have figured this out yourself. How many stretches do you know that we tend to recommend for girth? None. (Stretching can increase girth slightly but very little.) Always replace a stretch with another stretch, unless you're targeting girht in which case you can substitute a trapping or jelq variation for a stretch.
