View Full Version : Prostate Cancer Survivor Questions
Hey Fella's,
Last August I underwent a nerve sparing radical prostatectomy which left me unable as yet to have an erection. I can work around that....what has me concerned is that my Doc or any of the medical staff never warned me of penile shrinkage and attrophy.
Does anyone here have any experiance with this.......will this program help me reclaim some of my size back......or can you refer me to another site with helpful info.
Thanks for your help,
malcolm

I don't think anyone will be qualified to answer that question. I never heard of anyone suffering from this. the only thing I know for sure is a loss of size as we age. However applying logic to this I can recommend that you try PE techniques to maintain your size. You gave no indication if the loss of erection is permanent or not. Excuse my ignorance. The main thing would be to do kegals to keep blood pumping into your penis. Also stretching and Jelqing to keep the penis in a state of fitness. Some supplimentation that will help with increasing blood flow will also help tremendously. I think combined this should be able to get you back on the road again. Start off with a light PE program and see if it has any benefit. Personally he health of my penis has increased using these techniques. Good luck :)

Three years ago at age 58 I underwent radical prostectomy for prostrate cancer. I discussed this decision with my wife of 30 years and we agreed this was the thing to do. I have lots of years left and she wants to keep me - whew!!!
The Doctor and his staff did NOT tell me that my penis would be 1 to 1.5 inches smaller - it was. It felt as if I had a rubber band around it cause it was cold all the time.
Viagra and Cialis didn't work, I just had a slight headache. So - went the injection route and it works.
I can handle this BUT having a 4.25" penis is not what I'm used to - don't know the girth measurement but it wasn't much
July 10, 2005 started PE - noticed immediate results - much harder erections, not cold all the time.
Three months into PE and am now 5.25" erect 5.5" girth
4.75" flacid(started @ 3.75"
I'm still have to inject my penis to get it up. THIS STUFF WORKS EVEN FOR ME!!!! :sm25
Started the ROP two days ago - trying to be myself again. 7" erect, 6" girth

Sorry to hear about this Dano.
All I can say is give it a go. You have nothing to lose, take time and don't rush things, be dedicated and this may help your situation.
If you give it a go, you will have a better chance of recovery than if you were to leave it how it is.
Good luck and be sure to post any further questions. I'm sure most of us here will be happy to assist you and keep us posted of your outcomes.

On March 2, 2007, I had a radical prostatectomy. Good news my urologist thinks we got all the cancer. I am early in my post op recovery. I was given the risks. I do not know if I ever will be continent and have penis erection. All my doctor says is take it easy, relax, drink plenty of water, take short frequent walks and that it is too soon to know. He is confident that he spared the nerves. Can this program of exercises and stretching improve my chances of a successful outcome? And if so how long should I wait before safely beginning the program?

I will ask him.
However What would be normal? I know you can not give me any specific medical advice.
However as a general rule what would be a reasonable expectation for an uncomplicated bi-lateral-nerve-sparing-laparoscopic-robotic prostatectomy on a healthy 165 lbs 6 foot tall 50 year old man? The surgery has resulted in shortening of his flaccid penis. Even though it has been three weeks since the surgery, he has not been able to get an erection. As there is no longer any blood in his urine it appears the sutures of his urethra seem to be healing on schedule. He is also becoming more continent each day since his Foley catheter was removed five days ago. He is interested in pumping to maintain penis health, and hopes that soon he will have a spontaneous erection. So how long does he wait before he pumps? What would be a safe rule of thumb?

Not just prostate cancer surgery.
I had surgery for Crohns Disease, and I found that the shrinkage is very noticeable.
The only thing I can figure out, is that messing with the nerve endings seems to cause this shrinkage.
The HOWTO states 2 inch for the metal. With that length, I have not found a comfortable latex size. Going to get more zinc, and try 1.5 inch metal lengths.
I also have the commercial Blakoe RIng. Right now, it works better than the ROP, but I am still not giving up on the ROP. just need to find the right length combinations.
Just my $0.02 worth.
