I notice that when people do stretches they split them up into reps for example, 10 reps at 30 seconds each. Do you need to do that? Could I just hold a stretch for like a minute or two and do just a few reps of that if I can keep the stretch the same tension the whole time? Or does it really make a difference?
This thread has been placed in the appropriate forum it belongs in.

It allows you to keep a better focus and track of what you are doing. It also allows you change and modify what you are doing more accurately.

Well i mean does it make my gains better to do it that way or could i do it the other way I mentioned in the beginning because thats how i have been doing it. Its easier for me to hold it for more time with less reps. I dunno why its just the way my body works, but Im getting a great stretch and I am able to keep the same tension the whole time, so is it ok if I keep doing it my way?

I'm just telling you to keep track of things in reps @ seconds. How long you hold your reps for is something you need to work out for yourself. I always max a rep at 30 seconds, because I think part of the work benefit is the initial stretch, but you still want to hold the stretch long enough to accomplish something. No scientific facts here, I just happen to like 30 second stretches.

I used to hold my stretches for 1 5-minute rep. If I felt my grip giving I just let go and quickly readjust.
