Just wondering what is a good amount of time to excercise to see some improvements, and how many days out of the week do you do it. What about after making gains and you stop excercising do your gains go away?

I'd say exercise 15 min each time for a beginner, just for the first week or two, then bring it up to 20-25 after that. 5 days a week is what most people do - 3 on 1 off, 2 on 1 off works well.

I'm not too sure about maintaining gains, I'm goin to grow more first :p
